HOW CAN WE HELP YOUR BUSINESS?
RESPONDING TO BUSINESS NEEDS
The mission of The Skills Service is to provide inspiration and raise aspirations for young people’s future careers while also helping to meet the skills needs of the local economy. In order to achieve this we offer an impartial brokerage service for schools/colleges and employers, which enables the world of business to better connect with educational partners.
WORK RELATED LEARNING ACTIVITIES
We work closely with schools across the country to develop a careers strategy to suit their individual needs. Using a range of tools that were created in line with government guidelines, priority is given to:
Providing up-to-date information about local labour markets
Linking the curriculum to careers
Enabling multiple encounters with employers and employees
Ensuring first-hand experience of the workplace
Our brokerage service matches the requirements of businesses with the skill aspirations of learners and facilitates the delivery of work-related learning activities such as ‘Meet the Professional’ events, careers talks and classroom sessions.
All of these activities aim to raise the aspirations of young people and increase their knowledge of local businesses and sectors.
