The Skills Service is part of Opportunity Peterborough’s economic development portfolio. Responding to business needs to fill skills gaps and develop employability skills in young people, we coordinate activities between businesses and schools, and other organisations with access to young people. Young people need inspiration as well as information and guidance, which is best achieved through effective engagement with employers.

We work with businesses to help with staff training plans, connecting businesses with skills experts locally and providing workshops on the benefits of a highly skilled team and alternative recruitment methods such as apprenticeships.

WHAT PEOPLE SAY

—  Luke Byron

"The Skills Service’s range of work related activities for schools helps develop work-readiness of teenagers at all levels, preparing them for the world of work, including work based learning, but also those progressing to further education colleges such as ourselves.

This can be from something as simple as interview techniques, through to work experience opportunities"
