Around 500 students and parents attended the annual careers fair at Rutland County College, making the most of this valuable opportunity to find out about potential careers.
Over 40 local businesses and organisations were exhibiting, including a range of employers engaged by The Skills Service. There was also the chance to find out about universities and apprenticeships, plus a CV surgery giving one-to-one feedback on CV format and content.
In the afternoon before the Careers Fair started, we organised a series of workshops for Post 16 students. These covered 3 topics:
Your Personal Brand: delivered by Kelly Fryer (author, TV presenter and business coach) – a look at the elements that create you – authenticity, goal setting, personal marketing, confidence and aspiration
Stand Out! delivered by The Skills Service – CV writing and interview tips and finding opportunities
The Global Generation: delivered by Egality Communities – a look at the positive impact of social media on your career and the pitfalls/dangers to look out for
All for One and One for All: delivered by RAF Careers – the importance of teamwork.
