200 Year 8 students from Abbey College in Ramsey took part in a Meet the Professionals event to learn about careers and jobs in a wide range of sectors. Following a series of talks, the students then enjoyed a networking lunch where they could ask for further information about the careers that they are interested in.
David Howell, Quality Assurance Manager for AIM Altitude, supported the event. He commented afterwards that, “I had initial doubts if the age group would be too young to appreciate the importance of a career path and making choices at this time. The young people at this event proved me so wrong! It cannot be stressed enough how important interview techniques will be in their search for a job the students will want to wake up to every day. If you do not ask questions of a prospective employer how will you know what the company in question can do for you?”
