We organised a Careers Fair for Year 11 students at the Ormiston Bushfield Academy in Peterborough as part of the school ‘Futures’ Week. The event was very busy, with students excited about engaging with exhibitors about their future career options.
Exhibitors included colleges, employers offering apprenticeships, self-employment options, government and health employers, charities and volunteering options.
James Steward from Hunt & Coombs attended the Careers and also delivered an employability skills session to the students. He said: “The careers fair was planned very well and lessons in the afternoon seemed to work really well. One teacher commented that whilst one of the children she had spoken to was not interested in a career in law, it had given him a ‘wake up call’ and he had realised that he needed to start putting the work in.”
Kimberley Lloyd from De Montford University said: “Another great event from The Skills Service. Their work in raising aspirations amongst young people in Peterborough is exemplary.”
