Over 1,500 students from local schools came through the doors of Ely Cathedral to meet over 60 exhibitors from the world of employment, training and higher education.
The stunning venue for the fair is an annual event and this year it was once again a huge success. With exhibitors lining the Nave and the world famous Octagon Tower, they were in prime position to greet and engage with the students and offer insights into future career paths. Business sectors represented included banking, law, armed services, animal care, uniformed services, engineering, construction, transport, pharmaceutical and many, many more. Higher Education and training providers were also there in numbers and offered the chance to discover the many courses that can be accessed.
The whole day had an energy and buzz about it with many exhibitors benefiting alongside the students. One difference from previous years was that the first hour was given over to primary schools (years 5 & 6), as a golden opportunity for these children to learn a little more about the world. Walking around with their clip boards it was amazing to see them interacting with businesses and asking questions.
Liz Chapman from Cambridge Commodities said that the day was “A fantastic way for pupils to learn about all the different opportunities open to them in the local area” whilst Federica from AIM Apprenticeships said “I look forward to this event all year round. It is a great event for students to go round in a beautiful venue and speak to many providers and employers. Lovely atmosphere and great people“
