On December 5th the team at Saffery Champness held an open evening for local school leavers to meet with their senior team and trainees, to better understand what it would be like to be an Apprentice at the Firm based in Peterborough. 8 local schools had students attending along with parents and teaching staff.
Presentations were given to explain the company, the sector and Apprenticeships on offer in the new year. A CV clinic was held, as well as informal conversations with current trainees. The event was part of a joint project with The Skills Service to work with local schools to create a wider awareness of the sector in the local area, and the Apprenticeships on offer to local students from September 2020.
Debbie Longhurst, from the Skills Service commented, ‘It was a delight to see so many students attending the event, after the Saffery Champness teams hard work, reaching local schools through a number of assemblies they supported over the last few months’
If other companies want to reach out to local schools to increase their Apprenticeship applications – do get in touch with one of the team at the Skills Service.
