Longsands Students get a taste of the employment process

Longsands Academy year 10 students were given the opportunity to build their confidence and experience a real life work interview with a local employer. Volunteers from the world of work in the area gave their time to give the students a brief but engaging interview that simulates a potential real life work one.
Employers including RWE, Kier, Laing O’Rourke, Rexroth, AIM Group, Nat West and Wyboston lakes helped prepare students for the world of work. After the interview they fed back to the student with advice which will help them be best prepared for their future.
Longsands Careers lead Kate Martindale said how appreciative the school was to see such a variety of employers supporting the development of their students.
The Care Network said: “I thoroughly enjoyed it and it was lovely to meet such motivated and interested young people. They were a credit to the school.”
Bosch Rexroth said: “I thoroughly enjoyed the afternoon. I thought the students I saw were mature, good communicators and well prepared. A great testament both to the school and to themselves.”
For the business it’s a great way to support their local schools and also help influence the local future talent pools.
